| English Abstract | To support the rapid increase of social media, social media services are demanded to be efficient, highly available and scalable. The paper provides an active replication approach Pyxis to enhance social media services. Following Pyxis, either the newly-built social media services or the rebuilt ones can tolerate site failures and network partition failures, and thus achieve better user experience by providing continuous services on the basis of keeping required causal consistency. The experimental results show that Pyxis can adapt to a large number of concurrent users, and recover from failures in acceptable intervals. © 2012 Springer-Verlag.; To support the rapid increase of social media, social media services are demanded to be efficient, highly available and scalable.
