| Abstract | In this thesis, the reasons why the software crisis cannot be resolved completely are discussed, and the method to attack the software crisis, software automation, is introduced. There are mainly four reasons why the software crisis cannot be resolved: 1) Traditional methods do not break the limitation of the waterfall model; 2) There is a gap between the application field and the computer field; 3) Nowadays, the software development is still on the stage of manual process; 4) Software can be evolved. It should be designed self-adaptive. Like other engineering fields, the way in software engineering to attack the software crisis is software automation, by using techniques including AI, Software Reuse, CASE, and Object-oriented techniques. Software Automation should be domain-specific. Therefore, Management Information system is chosen. The method is called Role Method. The purpose of Role Method is to make the end user the real designer of the software system. |
